'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses after the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory earned a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
