In a surprising partnership that breaks conventional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden group.

The mission centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This release also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises.
