A group of ten convicted of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's significant age difference.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A longstanding false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
